Many thanks to those who helped turn today’s track meet into a successful event, and thanks to Jeff JABodies for staying so late at the track. Great turn out throughout the day, got a chance to meet new friends at the track as well. Also my special thanks to Rob aka RNR along with his firm Action Van & Truck World Pickering for providing us with the refreshments. Also Rob was able to score us a barbeque so bring out the burgers and the dogs. I will shortly email everyone with the new combination for the front gate lock. Please contact me if you don’t receive the update from me (most likely due to your spam-guard settings our emails may not go through). Please click here to see the pictures from this event |

I just wanted to provide an update on the status of the track build. We hit some hurdle a couple of weeks ago after a few days of heavy rainfall. Due to grading issues, some parts of the track were filled with water. So after pumping the water out, we decided to redesign the track to fix the grading issue. After a weekend of massive amount of work done by the club members, the new and improved track is designed and formed. Thanks to all those who put so much work into it. Please see the updated pictures from this weekend here |

Well, the ground is broken!! Great deal of work was done today. 1/8th scale track is roughed in and looking real good. This thing is so big, you will need to pit after each lap The Nürburgring track looks smaller than our 1/8 scale. OK enough of this….. We were very lucky to have the Excavator on site, there was no way we could have accomplished this work without it. Thanks Kevin for the good thinking, and Mark (the owner of the machine) for doing such a good job. Great thanks to Gary for operating the tractor and cutting the grass. Many thanks to those who took part in the work today, Jeff F (the grand track designer), Kevin, Brandon (still gonna get you for hitting me in the noggin), Mike, Jeff C, Rob and the boys and Gary. Here are a few photos of the track |

We are planning to open the Bowmanville track sometime during first or 2nd week in June of this year. We are now accepting new members for the club. The RC park located at Bowmanville (around hwy 401 and Waverly) will have a large 1/8th scale track approximately 1100 feet in length. Also planning to build an additional 1/10 scale track along a dirt oval track for larger 1/5th scale RC vehicles. We are also planning to have a section for rock crawling, although it may not be ready till later this year or for next season. The membership fee is $70.00 per person for this year and includes a free club T-shirt. Special rate of $60.00 per person will be applicable to family members (2-4 people) if registered at the same time. Kids 8 years old or under can become members, free of charge if accompanied by a club member 16 years old and above(sorry we can not offer free Tshirts for this group). All members under 16 years old will need to be accompanied by an adult member at all times while at the track. The track membership will entitle you to use the track every day from 10 AM till 9:00 PM, Monday through Sunday during the RC season which may run from May till November. Also a special discount will be applied for registering for the main events. Registration can be done at Xtreme RC located at 250 Bayly Street West Unit 13b in Ajax. They will be collecting the membership fee, all the contact information, and your shirt size. Membership cards will later be sent to your address or can be picked up at a later date. If you are volunteering to assist with the track build, due to insurance requirements, you must become the club member. Looking forward to a good RC season and meeting all of you at the track. If you have any questions please feel free to PM me at DurhamRC forum by clicking here or Email me at

My special thanks go to Rob Mialkowsky along with Action Van & Truck World Pickering located at 1053 Brock Road South, who helped raise additional money towards funding for the track. They achieved this task by raffling off a Traxxas Slash at their store location. Thanks very much for your generosity and effort. |

I do have some good news for everyone. We are finally proceeding with building the track in Bowmanville. For those who are wondering why we had to delay the build, Ajax flying club approached us a while back and proposed to share some of their land with them. It took us a few weeks of negotiation and we finally realized this deal is not going to be beneficial to our clubs. So here we are, ready to rock and roll. We are ready to haul some material to the track, already contacted the insurance company. The land is already surveyed. We are planning to build the main track at over 1100 feet long (367 meters or almost 1/4 mile). We are also hoping to be able to build a smaller track for 1/10th scale RC vehicles and a dirt oval track for larger 1/5th scale trucks. And yes, there maybe an opportunity to do some rock crawling at this location. Details to follow soon. We need volunteers who can help with the build. Also we will shortly start registering for the new members. Thanks again for everyone’s support, we could not have done this without you. |

Great news for all of us who patiently waited for this track to materialize. We have a secured a piece of land in Bowmanville, many thanks for generosity of Jim at Bedwell Van lines. He has allowed us to use his land till we figure how we can secure another one in town of Ajax. This is a great piece of property, almost meant for the track. There is a large gravel lot that can house several cars for our main events and there is tons of land we can utilize to build the track. Now all we need is to start digging and finally build our track. We are currently in the planning stage to choose the best location with-in the land, and then we can start excavating the land and building the driver’s stand. We are still in need of some material for the construction so please let us know if you can help with that. We will also be taking volunteers for the construction of the track so please contact me with your names and timelines you are available. We will soon be taking applications for our new members as well. As a side note, we tested various types of radios with-in the property and found no interference whatsoever from the hydro line (that’s what actually delayed delivering the good news to everyone) |
